Made here, start to finish.

A software studio for the web, macOS, iOS and Android. We design and build our own products, and we take on client work to the same standard.

The bench: what we have built

01Live

Deep Field

A long exposure on everything happening off Earth.

Thirty-one news feeds, eleven observatory image feeds, the launch schedule and eight NASA, NOAA and JPL services, gathered every few hours. It throws away the duplicates, files what is left under eleven subjects. Atom feeds and a subscribable launch calendar. No database and nothing running at request time. There is a phone app alongside it.

Just Blackjack

Blackjack that we can prove is fair.

No set buy-ins to, A provably fair shoe, a table that plays like the real one, live world activity tickers, 3 public leaderboards, 24 prestiges to climb and 50 levels per prestige. A currency you can only earn at the table that you can spend on prestige or customization. Ads are optional, and paid with in-game currency.

BlurShare

Choose what your screen is allowed to show.

A menu bar app for macOS. Pick the windows your audience may see and everything else is covered the moment it appears, live, at the compositor. The Peek Tool lets you look straight through your own cover while the room keeps seeing the blur.

Scribr

Notes with a model that never leaves the phone.

An offline first notebook with a chat sitting next to it. The notes are on your device and so is the language model that reads them, which is the only arrangement where “private notes” means anything. Works in airplane mode, because there is nothing to call.

The pagan calendar, drawn as the circle it is.

An educational app, in the running for Google’s Education Program. Festivals from several traditions laid out on a rotating wheel instead of a grid, with lore at each station.

KanaType

Learn the kana the way you’ll use it, not by chart.

Most kana apps ask you to stare at a table until it sticks. KanaType speaks first and you answer by typing what you heard, which is closer to how you will actually need to use it. Hiragana, katakana, a set of essential kanji, then words and everyday phrases.

02  /  Index

Everything, and where it lives.

Three titles have a public address. The rest are on the bench, and an address that would only 404 is worse than no address at all, so those rows say coming soon and nothing else. The stage board below says how close each one actually is.

We also have other projects, some public, some private. We’ve built tools for engineers, operations departments, small business owners, and we’re ready to build your solution. If you have something you want built, we can help you get there.

03  /  Stages

Where each one
actually is.

  1. 01

    Deep Field

    Live

Published at deepfield.news and rebuilding itself every few hours.

  2. 02

    Just Blackjack

    Live

Shipped, matchmaking up, and the shoe is still provably fair.

  3. 03

    BlurShare

    In build

The cover works at the compositor. The app around it is being finished.

  4. 04

    Seihon

    Early access

Reads everything it is meant to read. Builds go out by hand.

  5. 05

    Scribr

    In build

The on-device model answers. The notebook around it is still moving.

  6. 06

    Timewheel

    Early access

Whole year is in and dated. Waiting on store artwork, not on code.

  7. 07

    What’s For Dinner

    In build

The chart works. The app is being rebuilt around it rather than beside it.

  8. 08

    KanaType

    Early access

Playable end to end. We are still tuning how hard it pushes.

  9. 09

    Unnamed

    Sketch

Our 2nd AI powered project, more information to come.

We build our own, and we build to order.

The eight titles on this page are ours end to end — chosen by us, shipped by us, answered for by us. We take outside work as well, which is what work you might want in the form below is for. Same team, same standard, either way: what is on this page is the proof of what we can build, and a commission is that turned on your problem instead of ours.

Your device is the server.

Seihon has no account and nothing to upload. Scribr runs its language model on the phone, which is the only arrangement where private notes means anything. Deep Field keeps no database at all. Where a thing can work with nothing to call, we build it so it has nothing to call.

We tell you what stage it is in.

Most studios have one word for everything they have ever made: available. We have four, the board above uses all of them, and a title only moves along it when the work moves — including backwards. You should be able to tell from the outside whether something is ready for you, and on this page you can.

One team, every platform.

Deep Field is on the web. BlurShare is native macOS. Seihon, Scribr, Timewheel, What’s For Dinner, KanaType and Just Blackjack are on iOS and Android. That is one group of people shipping to four platforms, with design and engineering at the same desk and native where native earns it.

Say something.

Bug reports, licence trouble, a question about one of the apps, or work you think fits the bench. It all goes to the same inbox and a real person reads it.

This opens your own mail app with the message ready. Nothing is posted anywhere and this page has no analytics on it.
